Do April Showers Bring May Flowers?

Jules Heartly| May 5th 2022

The expectations were high. We had started our trip to  a Flower Art exhibit to celebrate spring at the Lyndhurst Museum at Terrytown, NY.  One of the featured artists, Joshua  Werber, had positively surprised Rihana with a flower arrangement and curiosity about what he and the other invited artist would come up with for this show took the best of our imagination.

It was April, and of course it was raining cats and dogs.  The 54 minute drive to the Lyndhurst mansion done with an extra focus on the road, met us with a brief burst of doubt.  Was it worth it to drive all the way there on a rainy day?

But the adventurous spirit prevailed.

Our imaginations thrived on floral arrangements and incredible art expressions. As we got closer to the place, the excitement and expectations grew.

The rain seemed to come to a brief break, long enough for us to get in line for the entrance.

As we got in  at the welcome center, after going through the entry protocols and directions, we read about other events taking place at the Mansion: workshops and lectures. One of them, a flower art workshop.

We signed up for it, as a backup plan.. Just in case… we had some time left after visiting the exhibits, or just in case there wasn’t anything else to do while the tenuous drops of rain continued to seed the miracle of May flowers.

The outdoors flower arrangements were beautiful to say the least. As we proceeded to the indoor ones,  we stopped  to observe the flower show in one room adorned with way too many flowers to make sense. They talked of the sadness of a funeral, more than of the joy flowers bring to a room, a dissapointing moment.

As we continued to visit each mansion room, we found some interesting exhibits,  but we were still not that impressed except for the artistic and quite unique work of Joshua Werber and Sourabh Gupta

Not that the overall show was not good, it only seemed nothing so extraordinary to meet our expectations, especially given the fact we had driven that far on a rainy day for the only purpose of attending it.

In addition, the exhibit wasn’t large, and the mansion sat small compared to European mansions we visited on other occasions.

Having time left in the schedule, we settled for our back-up plan: to attend the flower art class we had signed out for.  We had the idea it would be informative, but we found instead, ended up being totally unexpected in an excellent way.

The class was hands-on and they designed it so each participant could complete one piece of flower art by the end.

The process required concentration, creativity, an adventurous spirit, and the will to have fun.

As I progressed in my creative work, I was thrilled. I experienced what others know as a “runners high”  something I loved to feel during my runs.  An elation rarely come across by me except when practicing sports.

I sustained a feeling like a child at a toy store. My imagination got wild, and I did visualize flower arrangements around my house, in my living room. In my bedroom. In my study room, in the foyer…    And NO, the class was NOT about flower arrangements … but about using dry flowers to make art.

I stayed until the very end of the class and really wished we didn’t have to leave… We lingered longer, as we talked about how wonderful the hands-on art class experience had been.

As one of the few last ones to leave the place and aware of that Sunday being the last day of the exhibit, we took one last look at an outside flower arrangement we had liked a lot. To our surprise Stacey, one of the designers of the invited artist,   Maple Field Floral ,offered us the flowers from their exhibit. I am talking about dozens of all sorts of wonderful splendid exquisite flowers!

We left the place  carrying in our arms immense joy in the form of colorful magnificent blossoms.

When I got home I arranged them in all available flower vases around my house and I had the same perception I got when I imagined all this happening during that class.  A happy emotion flooded my body.

As it did,  I remembered something I’ve read a while back. There are a lot of ways to #meditate, and doing something that you love is one of them.  As it is running or reading or writing or purposely walking, drawing, painting, etc. And when in that blissful state of mind, #visualization will bring the desired results at a speedy time. It seemed to work fast enough for me in that occasion.

When I summarize the experience in addition to the opportunity to observe first hand the Exquisite artistic work of the Brooklyniters Joshua Werber and S. Gupta, I do believe the wish made reality, of all the flowers arrangements through my home, was definitely the cherry on top of the cake.

We had gone to the exhibit with high expectations and they met us differently. In a much better miraculous way.

The trip was totally worth it! The flowers lasted for weeks and so did the showers! LOL.

Thank you for reading my blog. I would love to hear your stories of #manifestations in your life.
